Moving! busy packing.

I'm busy packing up, moving back up to New York. I've been in Virginia for 6 years. Only now have I realized just how depressed I've been. There is nothing outside of my family to connect to around here. No music scene. No real fashion scene. Some how no men. (it's a military base town, the men have been deployed forever in iraq.) nothing. Last time I went out on the town was over two years ago. It was to the one gay bar to see the drag queen show they had.

waiting to hear about exactly which apartment I will live in. will hear in the next week or two. depending on which opens up, I will live in either Tuckahoe or City Island. So I will be 20-30 minute drive from lower Manhattan. If I indeed move back to City Island, you'll have to come visit and get some seafood. That is what it's known for! Lots of seafood resturants. When I get back up to NY I will have to report back on the exact price of the lobster specials. It  used to be $9.99 for a 1lb lobster meal. and lots of garlic bread, salad.. (salivates)

City Island is actually part of NYC, but it's like a different world. You drive through the city's largest park (woods 400 acres) on a two lane road, over a little bridge to an island that is only 1 1/2 miles long. Lining the one main avenue are all these diferent seafood resturants. They are the only main businesses. You can google City Island. They've been trying for years to market the area to tourists, which is laughable. The Hamptons it's not.
and Yes, Sex & the city cause at least in NY it's ok to be single in your middle 30's. In Virginia it feels like everyone is married with children, and if your not.....your not welcome.

I know what ya mean,I go through that when I visit family down South. They all think something's wrong with me.And I still get people here who ask "why aren't you married" or they can't believe I don't have kids or anything. So freakin' what! I've been there done that and I just don't wanna deal with men lately.I have a pretty active social life,my family whom I'm very close to and if I feel like it I just stay home if I want so who cares! As long as I'm happy.Right? Right. Thanks for lettin' me vent, that felt good...haha! City Island sounds cool I will look it up..thanks. And you go where you will be happy and if that's New York than that's where you belong.

Virginia Beach is a Navy town making it a virtual ghost town for dating.
God, I feel like I dress like a complete slob nowadays. It took me a while to get to this. I was overdressed everywhere I went when I moved down here. will have to work on that.
